I. Production Sub-Committee
Charges of the Production Sub-Committee:
1. Review and assess current MSU-ES programs.
2. Identify and prioritize needs and issues which should be addressed in both short-term and long-term educational programs.
3. Coordinate the distribution of relevant research summaries to agents.
4. Identify and recommend appropriate agencies regarding their involvement in and assistance with educational programming.
5. Identify and recommend needs and opportunities relative to support from and to agricultural consultants.
6. Plan for and recommend appropriate inservice education concerning both the technical and promotional components of the education program package for agents.
7. Integrate production guides by commodities.
8. Coordinate plans for the use of demonstrations for particular practices, and/or products in appropriate geographic areas of the state and means to communicate or disseminate results.
II. Economic & Marketing Sub-Committee
Charges of Economic & Marketing Sub-Committee:
1. Develop information relating to production budgets, risk management and production expectations for selected crops to aid producers in dealing with lending agencies.
2. Develop education programs for lending agencies and their employees relating to vegetable production budgets, risk management, and production expectations.
3. Develop current list and telephone number of brokers in MS.
4. Make crop insurance information available to those who need it.
III. Commodity Groups
Charges of Commodity Groups:
1. Survey and prioritize educational and research needs from farmers, county agents, and specialists in both short-term and long-term.
2. From each crop, rank according to greatest educational need the following factors: current (1) varieties, (2) fertilizer, (3) culture practices, (4) disease control, (5) insect control, (6) weed control, (7) marketing and economics, (8) irrigation, and (9) energy source (if appropriate).
3. Status report from each commodity group.
